Un Brick your iPhone Communication Device [question mark]

Jon Lech Johansen writes on his blog, So Sue Me, that he has "found a way to activate a brand new unactivated iPhone without giving any of your money or personal information to AT&T NSA. The iPhone does not have phone capability, but the iPod and WiFi work. Stay tuned!" So I guess if you don't want to use the phone features you could use this technique and earn yourself a really expensive iPod, wi-fi Internet device. We will have to wait and see if he can activate the phone portion of the iPhone for use with carriers other then AT&T. Of course in this scenario, one loses the sweet new visual voicemail feature.

Johansen is well know for his efforts in the cracking of Apple's Fairplay DRM scheme and the name of his blog, So Sue Me, appears to be a play on an earlier Apple inside joke contained within its system alert sound sosumi. What a joker, eh?

A public subversion server should be up overnight. Pop over to the irc channel..."
