A. Garcia Sucks at Drifting in Forza 2

Geoffrey Chandler's picture

A Garcia has made me a wealthy man equal to some of my more vivid dreams.

A. Garcia not only sucks at drifting he also sucks at modulating the brakes and maintaining a smooth driving line, however, he has still managed win me over 50 races, and assist me in my assent to level 40. He has never really developed as a driver, but his consistent driving coupled with my ability to tune cars, chewbaca style, has consistently pushed him to the front of the field. I demand a 45% cut for my work as team manager and mechanic, so although I am sure Garcia has a nice place in Madrid, I have a garage full of exotic race-cars and wildly modified street machines. I even have a 1969 Dodge Charger powered by a pre-regulation, destroyer class, solid fuel recoil booster. Seriously!! Only one thing is fore sure, both myself and Garcia have earned a lot of money in the world of high performance automotive racing.

Too bad it is only a fucking game!!

Somebody needs to tell the fools on Xbox Live that quit the first time I stuff them into a wall coming off the main straight at Nuerburgring that if they don't want to be hit they should be playing with collisions turned off. These trolls are playing with collisions turned on so that they can harvest more gold, but when they get hit they up and quit. Fucking pussy bastards. You earn more gold because it is harder. It is harder because assholes like me will stuff your shit into walls at a high rate of speed. The way I see it, I run the risk of crashing as well, so when I hit an opponent’s car we are both equal partners in the ensuing destruction.

If you don’t want me to hit you, then stay behind me. It’s that fucking simple.

Or you could just out drive me, probably due in part to my affinity for allowing Garcia to win my battles, I am a far more accomplished car builder then pilot.

Forza Motorsports 2 is a strong title, but it only gets a 80% from me as it lacks significant improvements over the original Forza Motorsports.

  • Where are the canyon roads?
  • Where is the drag strip?
  • Why does it seem like almost all of the cars from Forza are back in this version, with very little added?
  • Why are there so few Muscle cars? Not to mention that the ones included in the game read like a list of iconic cars from the late 60’s that would be found on the wikipedia?
  • Where is my 1964 Impala SS, 1966 Chevelle Malibu, 1967 GTO, 1964 Tempest, 1970 El Camino, 1970 Datsun 510, and last but certainly not least, the Ford 5.0 Mustang.
  • Differing weather conditions?
  • Dust, evening, night, sunrise?

Tell me Turn 10, are you withholding major game features and content so that you can sell me the other 20% of this game later on Xbox Live as downloadable content? Don’t give me blue-balls, it will only make me angry.

In closing, Forza Motorsports 2 has a glimmer of potential and a few fun mechanics, but a lack of vehicle differentiation, online trolls, and somewhat poor vehicle dynamics (not physics), and 100% awful high-speed collisions. If you are not a huge car/racing fan steer clear of this title and wait for GTA 4.

Forza 2 does still suck at drifting. After David wrote his original review, we were accosted by people claiming the game is great for drifting. I will make two points, 1 Just because you can drift, does not mean that drifting is well done, and 2 Forza (the original) is a much better title for drifting.
