Forza 2 Drifting Tournament
I still have no love for the drifting in Forza 2, and today I lost a bit more respect for it. Read this up on Turn10's Pit Pass Reports:
And lastly, the Forza 2 community held its first formal drift competition last weekend. The Forza Motorsport Drift Alliance (FMDA) is an organization created to provide a competitive environment for Forza Motorsport 2 drifters. In order to successfully operate a drifting tournament the FMDA has established a set of rules and regulations along with official judging criteria. The first tournament, “Round One” has recently been completed, and a video has been produced to document the runs of the top 8 drivers. Over 200 competitors signed up for the qualification round, and 70 of them made it to the competition room.
While I think that it is great that these guys went through the effort to put together a tournament, I lose a lot of respect over the name "Drift Alliance" being co-opted. In case you don't know, the real Drift Alliance is a wild bunch of rock and roll drifters outside of the safe confines of Forza 2. I don't mean to be too harsh on what is probably a bunch of young kids with a bit of hero worship, I can, however, fault Turn10 for pumping the FMDA on their website without looking into infringement. I will also not except a claim of ignorance on Turn10's part here as it would be nearly impossible to look into American Drifting at anything more then a cursory level and not discover the Drift Alliance.

Those kids suck at drifting so fucking hard.
yeah, word.
