The Green Servers of Tent City

I just read a blog post about saving electricity by using the environment to cool data center servers and not rely on expensive and non-green a/c systems. It all really seems to make sense to me, after all, most of us have our home computers subjected to whatever the ambient temperature of our houses may be, and not placed in a humidity and temperature controlled environment.

Fallout 3

I just recently started a new job, so I once again have money to spend on fun things, and thanks to the plethora of 4 day weekends, I have actually got some free time to try out Fallout. Right now Steam is doing it's best to download the game, and I am getting ready with a bottle of White Zinfandel.

Recession Fears or Worse

I can't decide if I am more afraid of the economic slowdown or the government intervention that it is creating. Netflix on Wii Ware == More Cash for Nintendo

Recently Microsoft and Netflix released a streaming service for the xbox360 that allows you to instantly watch a movie from your rental queue on your television. The service comes in the form of an application that is downloaded via xboxLive. The streamed movies are near the quality of a DVD, but if you have a slower internet connection (I have a cable modem) you may see lower quality.

www.job.com SPAM is Killing my Inbox

Amazing how low spammers will sink these days. www.job.com is an elaborate phishing site setup to lure users into submitting personal information. It was an easy spot for me, the only problem is all the spam emails that www.job.com sends out. I wish there was a number I could call and let the guys over there know that I see their scam and they can stop sending me mails.

Getting the most out of Slow Motion video at 60i

I don't need massive processing power to make a compelling, AAA game, or the Rising Cost of Video Game Assets

Does the increased cost of producing high resolution in-game assets payoff in player "experience," in a way that is tangible enough to justify it?

Old Apple Computer Internal Clocks

It's midnight, Jan 1, 1904. This date was selected because the original Mac's clock (which counts in seconds) can encompass a period of about 136 years. Selecting 1904 as the start date means that the 136-year period covered by the clock (1904-2040) includes the birthdate of nearly every Mac user, and extends well past the expected lifetime of the Mac OS.
